Esctoday.com, the Eurovision portal, announced today the 4th and 5th place of their Top 10 list. This week’s topic is the TOP TEN national final last placers.

The list features acts that have finished in the last place in a national final, which means that the act could have qualified to the final though preliminary rounds but finished last in the final. Rules that were also taken into account were the artists themselves, if they became famous before or after this national final and reached the Eurovision Song Contest, or favorite acts that fell down all the way to the last place.

No. 4 – Estonia 2003: Vanilla Ninja – Club kung-fu

Club kung-fu was the debut single of the Estonian trio, Vanilla Ninja. Being one of the favorites to win, Vanilla Ninja was the winner of the public vote. However, the winner was decided by a panel of 8 international judges, including Michael Ball (UK 1992), Darja Svajger (Slovenia 1995, 1999), Bo Halldorsson (Iceland 1995), Sergio (Belgium 2002), Moshe Datz (Israel 1991), Renars Kaupers (Latvia 2000) plus two jurors from Sweden and Germany. They all did not agree with the televoters and placed Vanilla Ninja in the last place, shared with Viies Element. Their debut Album, Vanilla Ninja, which included this song and a remix, made the band popular in Estonia, as well in Germany, Switzerland and Austria. In 2005, the girls have represented Switzerland in the 2005 Eurovision Song Contest with the song Cool vibes, and reached the 8th place, Switzerland’s best result in the contest for years.

Do you think it was fair that jury placed them on the last position?
